Hemming

Hemming, or flattening, is a great way to finish sharp edges and to strengthen parts of sheet metal products.

Finishing of sharp edges

Hemming - folding over the edge of a sheet - is used to eliminate the exposure of sharp edges and burrs, in areas where the part would otherwise be dangerous to handle. Another benefit of hemming is that it improves the aesthetics of a bent part.

Product strengthening

Hemming is also used for strengthening a product. Hemming the edge of a sheet doubles the material thickness and creates a U-profile. This will strengthen and stiffen the hemmed parts of the final product.
