Read moreCustomers are becoming increasingly demanding when it comes to the quality of end products. Process optimization and automation make it possible to meet such demands. And perfect tool alignment is essential for accurate bending on a press brake. What's the best way to achieve this?
The important references on a press brake are the virtual lines along the punch tips, the shoulders of the dies and the back gauges. These should be completely aligned to ensure accurate and consistent bends along the entire bend line.
To achieve this, the tool system on the press brake should allow for local adjustments in the horizontal plane (Tx). This will ensure exact and parallel flanges. To ensure a consistent angle along the entire bend, local adjustments in the vertical plane (Ty) should also be possible.
Excessive horizontal and vertical deviations in the alignment of the tool system can be problematic for follow-up treatments and cause products to be rejected.
Before a press brake is put into use, new or existing, make sure that the tools are perfectly aligned. During use, also regularly check the alignment of the tools. Consult the instructions belonging to the tool system on how to do this.
To compensate for deviations, a press brake tool system should feature local horizontal and vertical adjustment options (Tx/Ty). WILA Tool Holders feature integrated alignment, automatic clamping and crowning and are available for both new and existing press brakes.
