Read moreHoles, slots or cut-outs can be deformed when positioned too close to the bend line. For best practices on how to avoid deformations when bending near cut-outs, read our guide: "Best practices: positioning holes, slots and cut-outs away from the bend line". If repositioning is not an option, check our solutions below for minimizing and reducing deformations.
WILA's RotaBend tooling is designed for bending short flanges and producing clean bends when bending near holes, slots and cut-outs.
When bottom bending, the sheet metal is enclosed between the top and bottom tools. This reduces deformation of holes and cut-outs. Check out our tools for bottom bending.
Your holes will deform if they are too close to the bend line. Check out our download “Minimum distance to holes” to learn how to calculate the minimum safe distance.
In general, try to bend your parts using air bending as your bending method. However, bottom bending or bottoming will result in less deformation and more bending consistency.
